Sculptor - Painter - Printmaker

Marquis by Richard Arfsten
This was my first attempt at working with bubble wrap. I talked to someone at an art fair who told me about an experiment that she tried using bubble wrap as a skin on a sheep that she cast while an art student. It had possibilities but she was not able to completely control it. That conversation started me on a quest to discover the possibilities of odd materials to cast against.
I was almost jumping up and down as I pulled the casting out of the sand. It is hard to believe that dry loose sand laying against a flimsy plastic bubble could result in a very smooth defined surface. This was the beginning of a new line of casting experiments for me
