Connecticut Woman
Connecticut Woman is a sculpture I made while I was at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art. I used it as one example of my work to get into the Johnston International Figure Sculpture Competition.
This was modeled with a real person sitting in a chair six feet away. This is like a walk in the park compared to trying to make an accurate representation from a couple of poor pictures of someone who is dead. I have done several portraits of deceased people and have had to rely on people who knew the person to give me hints. I can make up a face but if you really want the piece to come alive you need to see how the facial muscles work so you can capture the look for different emotions.
This is a life size plaster portrait bust. It will come with a thick stone base with rough cut sides and a polished top.
