Galactic Map by Richard Arfsten
Galactic Map - cast sculpture. On one of my excursionary sojourns with Flash Gordon we met a very friendly advanced civilization that tried to tell us about all the nearby planets in that galaxy. Sort of like when you draw a map for someone who is trying to find a place in your town.
These people told us all this information and then went over to the wall and put a request into a machine. In about 5 minutes a door slid open and this map came out. They made a gift of it to us. There is text on the outside, common travel routes and destinations on the inside.
There is one more piece in this series.
This sculpture is made from cast iron and is very heavy. I have not made a base for it yet. Right now it sits wedged between two big rocks in my garden. If someone is interested in purchasing it, I could move that project up in my To Do list. :-)

As a side note I would like to work with others who can use some of my designs to weave stories around. I think that would make the viewing experience much richer for the story and the sculpture.
