Alien Egg

My father had a egg collection that I found at my grandfathers home when I was very young. It was a thing that was popular to do when he was a boy. I was fascinated by all the different colors and sizes. All the birds have their own colors and shapes. This must have influenced me when I made this piece. I build many of my sculptures from polystyrene foam that turns into solid metal in my casting process. I made several of these, all slightly different. They looked to me like they came from a different planet.

I like to have a story for my work that viewers can relate to so this is it.. Flash Gordon and I found a number of eggs on one of my dream time adventures. These sculptural eggs are all similar but each is different one-of-a-kind like they would be from other life forms. They are imaginary fodder for story time with your grad children.
