The Joker by Richard Arfsten
The Joker - cast aluminum. This is a small android sculpture, cast in aluminum, using the evaporative pattern casting process. It's a very hard foundry process to control. I particularly like the ambiguity of the process in making these type of figures. I never know how the piece is going to come out so it is like some greater power is editing the piece.
As I build my work a back story develops in my fantasy mind. My alter ego travels with my childhood hero, Flash Gordon, in my nightly dreams and we have adventures. This piece is a relic we found in a temple on a planet with a dead civilization that we investigate and document.
This is an edition of one. It will come with a stone base which is not attached. The stones I have are all different so chances are it will be a different one.
