Burnt Offering by Richard Arfsten
Burnt Offering is a desktop piece. The process I use to cast these sculptures, Evaporative Pattern Casting, is extremely hard to control because there are at least 50 variables. If any one is not right the casting fails. Every once in a while the failure is very interesting. This is one of those times. For some reason the pattern collapsed in the sand. After 20 years and hundreds of pours my success rate is about 70%. This is why other artists do not use this process very much.
A marble base will come with this piece. It is polished on top and rough cut on the sides.
