Painted Pony by Richard Arfsten
Painted Pony - fabricated sculpture. This is a fabricated piece using copper, bronze, steel, stainless steel, brass, and galvanized steel.
I enjoy taking classes at our local technical college to learn various skills. This was a welding exercise. Instead of welding coupons I always made little art projects. The welds are not anything to write home about. They are quite crude in fact, but they give the piece a real outsider folk art look. This was the inspiration for a very large 10-foot tall steel horse I later made using car bumpers for its mane and tail. That one is called Rusty Stallion and can be seen elsewhere is this gallery.
This piece will come with a thick stone base that has a polished top and cut sides.
Sculpture size: 14"H x 29"W
