Star Crystal by Richard Arfsten
Star Crystal - maquette. We, Flash and I, were looking at the rings on the planet we were traveling around. As we got closer to the particles in the revolving ring we noticed that they were iron rocks that had designs on them. They kind of looked like odd crystals. This is one that we brought back and it has been living in my rock garden sculpture display area for many years as the lichens will testify to.
This is one of my very first cast iron pieces I made using the evaporative pattern casting method. The metal is so hot it burns into the sand. That is why the corners are not crisp.
This maquette will come with a thick stone base that is polished on the top and rough cut on the sides. If you have an interest in having this piece enlarged please talk to me to discuss the fee as that right is not part of the price of the desk top sculpture. Click on the tab above "About the Maquettes" for more details.
